“Gallons of water are used by schools on a daily basis and with students joining the school on Wednesday, we expressed our concern to the school management and they assured us that they would take care,” said Swayamprabha, a parent from Anna Nagar.
Schools too have assured that they have enough water supply. “We have four campuses. This year, due to the water crisis, we have dug a borewell on each campus. Apart from that we have RO systems installed to help meet the demand,” said R J Bhuvanesh, CEO, KRM Group of Schools.
In some areas, schools have booked private water lorries. ‘‘We started getting Metro water from May onwards for the staff and workers on the campus. They complained that the water was muddy. The management decided to order water from private tankers lorry,” said a member of management of an Egmore school.
Zahir Hussain, treasurer of Tamil Nadu Student Parent Welfare Association, said, “We will take necessary action depending on the feedback of the students and bring it to the notice of the school education department.”
Cops create WhatsApp group for schools
Representatives from about 250 schools attended a meet at the police commissionerate on Tuesday. The police told them to be part of the WhatsApp group created exclusively for the officials, administrators and other important people in the locality. “The group has been created with an aim of immediate redressal of local grievances. This will reduce the delay in addressing concerns,” an officer said.
