Fill directors’ vacancies in PSBs: AIBEA to Modi
All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) on Sunday sought the personal intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the inordinate delay in appointment of the Directors on Boards of the Public Sector Banks.

Chennai
“It is matter of great concern that the posts of workman and officer Directors in the Banks that have fallen vacant from 2014 to 2016, remain vacant with the result that there is no representation of the Boards of all the Banks representing employees and officers,” said AIBEA General Secretary Ch.Venkatachalam in a letter to Modi.
He added that the AIBEA leaders met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on three occasions and submitted a representation to expedite the appointments and he assured that the matter is under process and it would be expedited but nothing has happened for the past two years and more. He said the provision of employee and officer representative on the Board of PSBs was incorporated in the Act keeping the concept of participative management in the mind.
Non-appointment of these representatives on the board defeats the very purpose of the scheme and will not augur well for the reputation of BJP-led NDA government. Today PSBs are facing multiple challenges and various measures have to be taken to strengthen these banks to further enable them to play their desired role.
“We are sure that all these are engaging your attention and necessary steps would be taken to make them more vibrant and effective,’’ the AIBEA General Secretary said in his letter.
