    Advocate assaulted by cop in road rage

    In a road-rage, a traffic cop assaulted a High Court advocate in altercation ensued when the advocate’s daughter knocked down a bank manager while driving to college on Thursday.

    Advocate Cholendran had preferred a complaint with Adyar Police seeking action against the traffic cop identified as Ujin. Sources said the incident took place along Indira Nagar II Avenue near a youth hostel, at around 10 am. Susetha, (23), a private dental college, also a resident of Indira Nagar II avenue, knocked down Rohith, (29), resident of Tiruvanmiyur, deputy manager, Lakshmi Vilas Bank, Guindy. As the mishap victim suffered multiple fractures, the traffic cop Ujin who responded to the situation verbally abused Susetha, and her father Cholendran rushed to the spot and chided Ujin to mind his language. In the heat of the moment, Ujin assaulted the advocate, and the passersby intervened and rescued the advocate. Meanwhile, Rohith was admitted to a private hospital, and a separate case was being pursued by the traffic investigation wing of Adyar. 

    Both the advocate and his daughter met the ACP – Adyar, and presented their complaint against the cop. Adyar Police who downplayed the incident as a mere altercation, maintained that they had only received a complaint from the advocate. 

    IAS aspirant knocks down guard fatally 

    An IAS aspirant who was speeding on his bike fatally knocked a private security guard to death along Rajiv Gandhi Salai on Thursday. 

    The deceased is identified as S Marimuthu, (57), resident of Perambur, and the biker identified as Mahadur Sanja, (22), resident of Pudur, along OMR, too suffered injuries in the accident. 

    The deceased was crossing the road near YMCA ground along the road. Both were heading home when the accident took place. The IAS aspirant was heading home after attending his classes, and was not wearing a helmet. Both were rushed to a private hospital in the vicinity where doctors declared Marimuthu dead while the biker was being treated.
