Catering attendant critical after falling into sambar
A catering attendant, who was engaged in cooking dishes for a reception at a wedding hall in Tonidarpet, fell into a vessel of hot sambar and suffered serious burns. His co-workers rushed him to Kilpauk Medical College with 62 per cent burns he remains in a critical condition, the police said.

M Karthik (33), a native of Dindivanam, along with his relatives had been engaged in cooking dishes for the marriage reception at a hall in Tondiarpet when the incident happened.Â
Police said Karthik slipped and fell into the vessel which had hot sambar. Karthik suffered serious burns on his thighs, stomach and hands.Â
The incident took place around 6.30 pm on Monday and the information was passed on to the Tondiarpet police station from Kilpauk Hospital police post at 7.50 pm. Police said Karthik had been working with his cousin, who is a catering contractor.Â
Worker slips to death at construction site near AvadiÂ
A construction worker fell to death from a building under construction at Chekkadu near Avadi on Tuesday. Police said Prathapan, a native of Orissa was engaged in construction work at a building at Chekkadu. When he was working on the top floor, he slipped and fell. Prathapan was rushed to a hospital nearby and was then asked to shift to Kilpauk Medical College for advanced treatment. But he was declared dead. Avadi police have registered a case and investigating the building contractor.Â
