Medical counselling stopped as students stage protest
The second phase of medical counselling for PG seats for deemed universities, was interrupted with seats filled during the first phase, having fallen vacant.
Chennai
Students who had got placed in the first round that took place early this month, staged a protest on Monday demanding that they be allowed to sit through the second phase and get a seat in a college of their choice. “We have worked hard and deserve to be given a chance,” said a student on condition of anonymity.
Stating that it is impossible to conduct counselling again for the vacant seats, Director of Medical Education Dr Edwin Joe said, “some students who were allotted seats in the first phase, failed to turn up on the day of joining at the universities. We had to pause counselling on Monday, but it will resume on Tuesday.”
