23 arrested for bid to torch TASMAC outlet
Police arrested 23 people, including local leaders of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), for attempting to torch a TASMAC outlet at Annai Anjugam Nagar, near Tambaram on Monday night.

The police said that a group led by local VCK leaders attacked a TASMAC shop that was reopened recently. Some of the gang members barged into the shop and threatened the employees. The also picked up bottles and threw them on the road.Â
Meanwhile, a few others allegedly tried to torch the shop and the police reached the spot at the nick of time, stopped the people and managed to douse the flames. Based on a complaint filed by the shop’s employees, police arrested 23 people, produced them before the Tambaram Magistrate Court and remanded them in judicial custody.Â
