A division bench comprising Justice N Kirubakaran and Justice V Parthiban, said, “The issue raised in this petition is very large. Therefore, without expressing any opinion on merit, this court directs MCI to consider and pass orders on the petitioner’s representation within three weeks.” However, the bench on keeping the larger issue in the petition pending, directed the registry to post the case after vacation for reporting compliance and for passing further orders. The petitioner Dr P Ramachandran contended that in Tamil Nadu most of the students are part of the State Board and are unable to meet NEET in a better manner. Hence, a single window competition cannot ensure a level playing field, he said and insisted that it was pertinent that at least Clause V of the notification, which insists that all admission to MBBS course shall be solely based on marks obtained in NEET, is changed.
