For instance, MOP Vaishnav College for Women opens its applications online from May 1 onwards. The College principal Lalitha Balakrishnan says, “Till last year, the students had to come and collect their forms physically, but this year, things have changed. Making the entire process online helps us in handling the applications better and the campus too is not crowded.”Â
“An individual login will be provided to every applicant. After the site is open, they should fill in basic details and pay the application fees. Once the results are out, they can fill their marks using the unique id and password,” she explains.Â
Meanwhile, Ethiraj College in Egmore will open its online application process three days before the results are out. Prof A Nirmala, principal, says, “For the benefit of the students, we have put out all the details about the application process on the website, so that students can get the hang of it before they start applying.”Â
However, she adds, “The biggest challenge in going online for applications is to coordinate between various mediums, especially the payment part. We have done several trials to ensure that every step runs smoothly.”Â
The website of Women’s Christian College on College Road too has detailed instructions to guide students with their online application form.Â
Apart from the online helpdesks, helpline numbers are also set up by these colleges to reach out to those students, who may not be comfortable with the online process.Â
“Instead of running from one college to another, it is much easier to access the application forms online. We can fill them at our convenience. Since, the website of these colleges is up-to-date, research too becomes easy, says A Anusah, a commerce student.Â
