Tipplers happy as TASMAC outlets on routine duty

Flow of liquor, especially state run TASMAC outlets went unhindered throughout the day as they were the lone establishment doing business in many areas. Singletons were the worst hit. 

“We thought we could at least manage with some snacks and tea, But, even tea shops were hard to find, let alone restaurants. But, all liquor shops and bars attached to them were open,” complained medical transcriptionist C Vigneswaran of Natesan Nagar in Virugambakkam. 

Equally affected was techie Abu Taheer, a native of Guntur residing at Koyambedu, who says; “Not a single restaurant was open. A stray tea shop was half open, but it did not sell snacks. We finally managed to locate a TASMAC bar near Elango Nagar and had some lunch there.” 

However, not all complained. Party animals like marketing executive Raja Simhan of Coimbatore now living in KK Nagar said, “All meat stalls and TASMAC shops were open. What else do you need? I invited my friends and we partied at my place.” Even a few TASMAC bar owners admitted that the business was unusually brisk for a weekday, and that too in the afternoon at month’s end.
