Dr Mathew Samuel, a cardiologist in a leading private hospital in Chennai, has been running another hospital in Mumbai and he had gone there along with his family. On Thursday night, Parthiban, watchman of the complex, received a flowerpot from Kerala meant for the doctor.

When he took the same to the second floor of the building, he noticed broken glasses and informed the owner and police.

Since CCTV’s were fixed in the complex, police had been examining the footage for possible clues. Mathew reached the city and filed a complaint on Friday. Police suspect that the burglar broke the glass window and entered the home and stole the valuables.

In Madurai, the judges couple P Chandraseharan (Family Court) and Gomathi Jeyam (Mahila Court) had gone to their native Sankarankovil in Tirunelveli district. On Friday morning, their maid, who came to the house, was shocked to see the front door broken. She immediately alerted the judges, who, in turn, informed the police.

They found the bureau ransacked and gold jewels weighing around 26 sovereigns were missing. Sniffer dogs and forensic experts were brought in to help in the investigations. Based on the complaint by the Judges, Tallakulam police have registered a case.
