City students get an early start in competitive exam training

Instead of letting their students attend coaching classes somewhere else, many schools in the city have started conducting classes in their campus to prepare their students for such competitive exams.

These coaching classes start from as early as Class 6 and intensifies with every advancing year. D P Sivasakti Balan, Principal, KRM Public School says, “We have collaborated with Jayam Academy that helps students prepare for competitive exams. 

Coaching classes are conducted on weekends and those who are interested can enrol. We started the classes last year and many students have shown interested in it. All schools that come under our group conduct such classes and students from other schools are also welcome.” 

Throughout the year, the students attend the coaching classes during the weekends. For those in Class 12, who have just finished their exams, most of these educational institutions have arranged for daily classes. 

“We did not want to have coaching classes which the students have to attend after school every day, Sivasakti Balan added. Most of the schools in the city have collaborated with coaching centres to conduct exclusive classes inside the campus. 

Recently, Agarwal Vidyalaya in Vepery collaborated with a private academy to conduct AIEEE and NEET classes for its students. “There are a lot of students who want to do well in the exams. For the students interested in getting an early start, we start the coaching from Class 6. 

Students from Class 6 to Class 12 can take advantage of the facility and does not have to go anywhere outside,” says Ilango C, Manager of the school. Parents find it convenient that the facilities are available in their children’s schools itself. These days, parents have to invest a lot when it comes to their children’s education, including paying for coaching fees apart from school and tuition fees. “It saves a lot of time for the students if these coaching classes are within the campus. 

Earlier, the students would have to go outside on alternate days to attend these classes. It puts a lot of strain on the children as well. A few months ago, they started coaching classes in the school itself. Now, it’s very convenient for the children and we do not have to spend a lot of money on coaching centres either,” said Manju Singh, a parent.
