There is much opposition to the move as they have no trust in the Union government on the seat sharing front.

“There are 24 medical colleges in the state and Uttar Pradesh have just three colleges. As of now, 85 per cent of the seats are for the students from Tamil Nadu and the remaining 15 per cent is meant for the All India Quota. During the PG exams of NEET, it has been announced that 75 per cent will be for the students from the state and 25 per cent for the All India Quota. But it changed to 50-50 later. We ask the Centre not to take away our rights for their convenience,” said Suresh Kumar, a final year student at the Stanley Medical College.

“The Centre’s proposal for a common test for admission to arts, science and engineering colleges is a clear interference on the states’ rights. What is the need for a federal system then?” questioned a government doctor who is a member of DASE.
