Passengers with headphones made to write imposition at Central
If you have the habit of wearing headphones while travelling on trains in Chennai, it is best to come prepared with a pen and a piece of paper, as the Railway police will make you write imposition to raise awareness on the dangers of travelling while listening to music or talking on phones.

About 150 youth were stopped by the Railway police on Friday morning at the busy Chennai Central station and were made to write the imposition.
Police stopped the youngsters who disembarked from trains while wearing their headphones and handed them a notice. While people thought it as an awareness campaign, the police team headed by Inspector Sekhar, went a step further and asked them to write an imposition ten times, saying that, “Wearing headphones and talking over mobile or listening to music while travelling is risky to me and to my fellow passengers.”
“We apprehended about 150 youth in just one hour between 8 and 9 am on Friday. We will continue this drive as the accidents and instances of cell phone snatching have been increasing due to the use of headphones,” Inspector Sekhar told DTNext.
Sekhar said using headphones has become an addiction among youngsters and they often miss trains, get down at wrong stations and mindlessly cross tracks or even forget in the direction in which they were heading.
“We receive at least 20 cases a month regarding cell phone snatching. Assailants use a long stick to tap the hands of youth who travel on footboard while talking on their mobile phone. The mobile phone falls and the assailants escape with them. This is rampant in areas like Perambur and Vyasarpadi,” Sekhar said.
