Two killed in separate road accidents
Two people, including an IT professional, were killed in separate road accidents in the city that occurred on Wednesday night and Thursday morning respectively.

At 11.20 pm on Wednesday, a tempo traveller ran over two people who were crossing the road at IT Highways in OMR. The police said, the incident occurred as the tempo driver had failed to spot the pedestrians crossing the road as the headlight beams of vehicles coming from the opposite side had dazzled his eyes.Â
The victim was identified as Selvam (55) of Sholinganallur, who was crossing the road with another unidentified person late on Wednesday night near Ponniamman Koil, when driver Sarath Kumar (25) of Thiruvannamalai who missed seeing the duo crossing the road, hit them.Â
He rammed into the two men and Selvam died on the spot. The unidentified person was rushed to Rajiv Gandhi hospital.
The Guindy Traffic Investigation which registered a case sent Selvam’s body to Royapettah Government Hospital for post-mortem. In a separate incident, at Erikkarai, Maduravoyal, a tanker lorry rammed into a two-wheeler in which the rider was grievously injured. The deceased was identified as Swamy Ayyappan (25) who works for a private firm in Velachery and lived in Ganga Nagar in Madurvoyal.Â
On Thursday morning, he was riding his two-wheeler near Alampakkam, Erikkarai when the tanker rammed into him. He died on the spot and suffered grievous injuries to his eyes, head and hands. The police sent his body to Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital for a post-mortem. The Koyambedu Traffic Investigation has registered a case.Â
