The report will incorporate details on the quantity of the oil that was spill and recovered as well as the compensation. The State and Central Pollution Control Board too filed an inspection on the steps taken by the State and Central agencies during the oil spill.

“The complaint has been that tar balls have been forming on the beach, due to oil spill residues. But the pollution control board has been removing these tar balls. In addition to this, as per the report, water samples were taken in four areas. The report filed also pointed out all the steps taken to clean up the oil spill, which was later sent to the Ennore Port for remediation,” said the Counsel for TNPCB. Ecological remediation was also discussed. “Based on this, future course of ecological remediation will be decided,” said a source from NGT.
