A 31-year-old painter stabbed his wife to death in Kundrathur on Sunday night as he suspected her of having illicit affair.
Chennai
Police said that Suresh Babu alias Muthuramalingam (31) married Dhanalakshmi (20) 11 months ago and were residing on Duraiswamy street in Thirunageswaram, Kundrathur. While Muthuramalingam was a painter by profession, Dhanalakshmi worked in a shop. There were frequent quarrels between the couple as Dhanalakshmi used to chat on the mobile with her friends for a long time. After one such altercation last week, the woman walked out and went to her parent’s house.Â
On March 12, Suresh went to his in-laws’ house for a compromise with Dhanalakshmi and bring her back home. However, when Muthuramalingam again found her talking over the phone, he picked up an argument. When he tried to snatch the phone, Dhanalakshmi resisted his attempts. Angered by this, Muthuramalingam brought a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her in the abdomen.Â
Though Dhanalakshmi was rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, she died in the wee hours of Monday.Â
Meanwhile, in another incident, the body of an unidentified man was found on the terrace of an apartment at Metha Nagar, Kundrathur. Residents of the apartment saw the body when they came to the terrace to dry their clothes on Monday.Â
The man was lying in a pool of blood with injuries on his hand, shoulder and neck. A few liquor bottles were also found on the terrace. The police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Kilpauk Government Hospital for post-mortem. Investigations are on to ascertain the identity of the victim.
