The couple from Malampatti near Melur, Kathiresan (60) and his wife Meenakshi (55), have now become well-known for the petition they filed at Melur Judicial Magistrate Court claiming that Dhanush was their son and demanded a monthly maintenance amount of Rs.65,000 for their medical expenses from the actor.

Dhanush was asked to appear at Madurai Bench of Madras High Court to check certain body-marks, which the couple claimed their son had. The couple has also asked for a DNA test to prove their claims and are confident that the leading Kollywood actor is their son.

Speaking to DTNext, Kathiresan, a former bus conductor, claimed that Dhanush was born at Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai and his original name is Kalaiselvan. “He studied up to SSLC at Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Melur and then moved to a private school in Tiruppathur in Sivaganga district. He studied for about a month at this school but due to his interest of acting in films, he discontinued his studies and went to Chennai. He met director Kasthuri Raja in the city, worked with him and eventually became an actor. After becoming an actor, he deserted his ‘real’ family,” claims Kathiresan.

Meenakshi also said that there are two body marks — one near the throat and the other, a mark on his forehead, that prove that Dhanush is their son. “The second body mark is very important as a similar mark is also seen on the forehead of my husband,” she said. The mark is called ramar kodu (line) and it is their family mark.

She also said that Dhanush’s school friends who had met him at Chennai had enquired why he had deserted the family back in village and the actor had even responded that the parents had to come to Chennai so that he could take care of them. “All the residents of our village, our relatives and his school friends can identify Dhanush as Kalaiselvan. We are optimistic that the court too will rule in our favour,” says Meenakshi.

Titus, the counsel of the Melur couple, claimed that there are several pieces of evidences to prove that Dhanush is their son. The status achieved by Dhanush is forcing him to reject his biological parents, says Titus.

Citing the fake evidences submitted by Dhanush at the court he says that, “Dhanush had claimed that his original name is Venkatesh Prabhu, which is coincidentally the name of Gangai Amaren’s son. He has used the certificates of this Venkat Prabhu as proof to claim his identity. But they have failed to notice one important aspect which is ‘his age’. In the ration card photocopy submitted at the court, age of Venkatesh Prabhu is mentioned as 29 in 2005. If this is true then Dhanush’s age should be 41 by now. But he is only 33. This shows that Dhanush has used fake certificates as proof of his identity,” he says. He also went on to add, “Similarly, he has produced the communal certificate of Venkat Prabhu as his own. But he didn’t notice that Venkat belongs to the SC category, which Dhanush does not. All the fake evidences prove that Dhanush is no way related to family of Kasthuri Raja. It will also prove that Kathiresan and Meenakshi’s claim.”

While the case is in court, Dhanush’s school teachers have come out in support of the Kolaveri star saying that they have evidence of the fact that Dhanush did his schooling from Thai Sathya Matriculation school from LKG to 10th standard. “He was a very shy boy, but also very naughty and he did his schooling from LKG to 10th standard here. He was an above average student and had got 62-63% in his 10th boards. We have his mark sheets in our records. His parents are Kasthuri Raja and Vijayalakshmi,” said Sudha Vijaykumar, the Principal of Thai Sathya Matriculation school.
