Avoid ‘Amma way’, Ramadoss advises OPS
With the Supreme Court upholding the trial court verdict in the DA case against late chief minister J Jayalalaithaa, VK Sasikala and two of her relatives, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) leader Dr S Ramadoss has urged caretaker Chief Minister O Panneerselvam to refrain from reiterating that he would follow the way shown by Amma as she was now a convict.

“Jayalalithaa should only be seen as a convict, henceforth. So her birth and death anniversaries should not be organized as government functions and it will be impossible to construct a memorial at the place where she was laid to rest at the cost of government,” Ramadoss said.
He added that the government should not establish Jayalalithaa’s statue on the premise of the Secretariat and demanded that her portraits be removed from all government offices.
S Ramadoss said that Panneerselvam’s silence over the verdict fuelled suspicions among political circles and public. “It is stop-gap Chief Minister, who should have reacted to the judgement first. However, his silence has raised doubts on whether he is supporting the judgement that convicted Jayalalithaa,” he said and added that “Welcoming the verdict against the corrupt late chief minister should be a good beginning for OPS.”
Ramadoss said, while addressing the media on Tuesday, OPS had said that the judgement has ensured that we should follow Jayalalithaa’s footstep. “Later, OPS changed his stance and said that the AIADMK MLAs should support him to pick up from where she left. I am at a loss to comprehend such wavering statements from the CM,” said the PMK founder.
Stating that OPS should explain whether he would function as an anti-corrupt CM unlike his predecessor or he would follow Jayalalithaa’s way, Ramadoss said, “If OPS is still remaining as a staunch loyalist of Jayalalithaa, his political career will die down.
