Gold, cash stolen from marriage hall in Egmore
In a theft at a heavily guarded posh marriage hall at Egmore, gold jewellery weighing 80 sovereigns and Rs 2.5 lakhs in cash when a marriage reception was underway.

Police said a bag containing the cash and jewellery kept inside the room of the bridegroom was stolen.Â
They added that the wedding reception of the daughter of Murugeshan, an industrialist was happening at Raja Muthiah Hall at Egmore on Thursday night and the bag containing the jewellery and cash was kept inside the bridegroom’s room.Â
When the family members checked the room after the reception, they found the bag missing and lodged a complaint with the police.Â
The police team has collected the CCTV footages from the marriage hall and are trying to identify the culprit.Â
It may be recalled that last year January, in Tondiarpet, an unidentified person stole a bag containing more than Rs 1 lakh in cash and eight sovereigns of gold jewellery from a wedding hall while the reception was in progress.
