Stating that, staying with a party leader or chief minister person for 33 years is not a qualification to become a Chief Minister, she said that the press interaction by doctors, who treated Jayalalithaa, regarding the treatment given to the former Chief Minister still had many issues to be clarified “My question on the type of treatment given and who authorised it have still not been answered,” Deepa pointed out. Deepa said that she would announce her political foray on February 24 and added that she wanted to continue the programmes stated by her aunt.
When asked about why she had not announced her tour programme to get public and party cadres feedback, she said, “We face problems with permission not being granted for meetings by the police.” Citing an instance when she was invited to hand over welfare measures to children of a school in RK Nagar, the constituency which was represented by Jayalalithaa, Deepa said she was prevented from doing so. When asked about what she was basing her confidence to enter politics, she replied saying, “it is the wish of the people who want to see new leaders emerge.”
