Bihar youth found dead with stab injuries on Marina

Even as the Chennai city police turned the Marina into a fort by deploying several hundreds of personnel after clamping Section 144 in police stations near the Marina, the presence of such a huge force couldn’t prevent a murder that took place on February 2 night.

An anonymous caller informed the Marina police around 8 am on Friday that the body of a youth with multiple stab injures was found on the beach. A team from the Marina police station, led by inspector Mohan Doss, rushed to the beach and recovered the body found opposite the slum clearance board building. Later, it was sent for post mortem to the Government Royapettah Hospital.

The police recovered a wallet and the victim’s aadhaar card through which they identified him as Noor Hussain Ansari (27), a native of Bihar. Police said Ansari, who had been working at a tailor shop at Nungambakkam, was staying with his brother Mohammed Ansari near Vivekananda House.

The police said his brother Mohammed Ansari had lodged a missing complaint with the Marina police after his brother failed to return on Thursday and calls to his mobile phones went unanswered. Noor Hussain Ansari’s body had as many as nine stab injuries. Police suspect that it could have been premeditated murder.

“It seems to be a pre-planned murder but we are yet to establish the motive. A special team has been formed and investigation is on to identify the accused,” a police official said.
