Get warm cup of tea on the go
Tea2go, a company founded by Sivaraj Muthuraman, intends to sell tea prepared at centralised kitchens that regulate quality in modified cycles with attached flasks. This is his second eco-friendly invention since eco-cabs.
Chennai
While planning to catch up with friends over tea, Sivaraj Muthuraman realised that many vendors sell tea on their cycles but GenY steers clear of their tea as they are concerned about the quality of the brew and the ingredients used. He researched over the tea market in the city and talked to a lot many vendors. Eventually after doing a ground-work of more than six months, Sivaraj has come up with the idea of Tea2go.
“I have always been interested in eco-friendly technologies. Cycles are the most environment friendly means of transport. And if it can be used to sell tea prepared at quality regulated, centralised kitchen then it can lead to a revolution. It will of course, generate a lot of employment as well,” says the founder of Tea2go. A tea vendor needs to just come and get the special cycle from the nearest centre.
“A prospective tea seller just needs to show their identity proof and we will provide them with the cycle and the tea prepared at our centralised kitchen in the flask attached to the cycle. Post that, they are free to sell the tea and the profits generated will be shared by the company and the vendor,” he explains. But interestingly, the current model is only meant for sale of tea and not coffee.
Sivaraj says, “There are numerous small and big joints in the city that serve quality-coffee. But tea is still pretty much sold at smaller shops or as a second option at big cafes. I wanted to give quality to Chennai people.”
He informs that he will be hosting a demonstration of the product at Nungambakkam towards the weekend and he is expecting a positive response from a lot of vendors. “Initially we plan to have around 10 cycles in Nungambakkam area and 10 on OMR road. Then we will start expanding to other areas as well,” he says.
