On January 16, an unidentified body was found in a rucksack near BMC Mills, Otteri. The body was later identified as that of Praveen. Police had earlier traced his auto rickshaw in Purasaiwalkam.
According to the police, Praveen married Sabeena, who works at textile shop in Purasawalkam following a brief courtship. Sabeena was in love with Ganeshan, a resident of Purasawalkam area, and had dumped him for Praveen.

Later Ganeshan and his friends decided to eliminate Praveen and invited him to Purasawalkam before murdering him. Police have reportedly secured the friends of Ganeshan, who were involved in the murder. A search is on to nab the Ganeshan.
