Mauritius man loses way due to language problem, traced to Andhra Pradesh

Liladhur Ramdhun (68), had come to the city on a vacation with his wife Indrawtee (59) on a tourist visa after their son Kevin (35) sponsored them the packaged trip. After arriving in Chennai on December 28 noon, the couple checked into GLM Meridian on South Boag Road in T Nagar. 

By 3 pm, Ramdhun, left his room to buy a packet of bread and subsequently went missing. The next day, Indrawtee lodged a man missing complaint at Mambalam police station. The police began searching for Ramdhun but could not get any leads. On January 2, Kevin, who runs a business in Mauritius, arrived in the city to help police find his father. Deputy Commissioner of Police, T Nagar, Saravanan said the senior citizen could not identify the street where the hotel was located. 

Since he could not speak or understand Indian languages, he was guided by some persons to Central Station. From there, he boarded the train to Andhra Pradesh. “He did not speak Tamil or English and due to his age he couldn’t find his way back,” Saravanan said. 

On reaching Rajamundhry, a local tailor, identified as Ravi, understood the language Ramdhun was speaking, which included a few Urdu words. Ravi contacted the police control room and later the Embassy. A team of police officials were soon sent to bring him back. Ramdhun is expected reach the city in the wee hours of Saturday.
