DVAC traps education department clerk while receiving bribe
The Special Investigation Cell of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on January 2 trapped a Record Clerk of Education Department while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 at Koyambedu bus stand.

The team, which received a complaint from Manickam, a native of Ooty, waited till the official accepted the specially marked notes from the complainant and caught him red-handed. The accused was later produced before the magistrate court and was remanded.
According to DVAC sources, Nandakumar (56), who is working as a Record Clerk with the Education Department at the Secretariat, in connivance with another Bench Clerk at the Nilgiris district education office, demanded Rs 15,000 as bribe from Manickam to add his mother-in-law’s name to the pension papers of his deceased father-in-law. Following this, Manickam lodged a complaint with the DVAC, who laid a trap and made the official concerned arrive at Koyambedu. They arrested him while he was receiving the bribe.
