She said that the Prime Minister has announced the war on black money only as a part of the efforts to bring good governance in the nation. People are supporting the fight wholeheartedly even though they have to tolerate some shortcomings initially, she added.

Taking a dig at former Finance Minister P Chidambaram’s speech that black money can’t be abolished, the BJP leader said “Yes, it may be difficult for the Congress to end corruption as the party has encouraged the scourge to the hilt when in power. How can those who nursed it take heart to finish the menace?” “Chidambaram should have spoken about the ways of ending corruption while 2G, Coal and Common Wealth loot were taking place under his watch,” she said and added “The Congress government prevented the independent Central government agencies from functioning and we have allowed them to do their duty without any interference.” She quoted the recent raids in the houses and offices of the former state chief secretary Ramamohan Rao as an example for it.

Refuting charges that the Centre was acting in a vindictive manner on the raids, she asked how the political parties were going to justify the huge money and gold seized from the official’s premises during the raids by the investigating agencies. Answering TNCC chief Thirunavukkarasar’s charge of the national party at the Centre trying to grab power in Tamil Nadu through the backdoor, Tamilisai said “There is no necessity for us to do so. Our party won’t stoop to that level.” Pointing to the TNCC chief’s proximity to AIADMK, she quipped “We just hope that Thirunavukkarasar would not add the AIADMK colours to the Congress flag in the near future.”
