P Chidambaram slams Centre on note ban
Slamming the Centre for going ahead with demonetisation, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram said it would take six months for normalcy to return. He called the decision to scrap Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes an irresponsible decision. It had crippled the country’s economy, he charged.

Speaking at a meeting convened by the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee against demonetisation, Chidambaram said that 45 days after the Centre took such detrimental decision common people were still on the streets struggling the get their hard earned money. Stating that farmers were the worst hit due to demonetisation, the former Minister said the Centre’s three objectives of eliminating black money, counterfeit and corruption had miserably failed. “It is ironical that politicians at the helm rule the country without knowing the definition of black money. They should sense the fact that black money is not a stock, but it is the flow,” Chidambaram noted. He said that printing Rs 2,000 was nothing but increasing the level of corruption.
