Junior artiste, hubby arrested for murder

Police arrested Zeenath (30), who works as a junior artiste and her husband M Sirajudheen (34) and have reportedly recovered 10 sovereigns of gold jewellery from them. Police said the deceased, Jayaseeli (46), and Zeenath used to act in Television serials together and were friends. Recently, Zeenath had stayed over at Jayaseeli’s house in Saligramam. Police said Zeenath was in need for some money and had asked  Jayaseeli. However, Jayaseeli turned down Zeenath’s request saying that she had no money. 

Following this, Zeenath called her husband Sirajudheen to the apartment and all three reportedly consumed liquor. After a few rounds, the duo smothered an inebriated Jayaseeli using a pillow. The couple then escaped with her jewellery, police said. They had also sprayed room-freshner inside the flat to reduce the stench once the dead body got decayed. Jayaseeli’s body was found inside her flat on December 5, after neighbours informed the police about foul smell emanating from her flat. Police recovered her decomposed and naked body from the bed. The imitation jewellery she was wearing was intact but the jewellery kept inside the bureau was missing, following which the Virugambakkam police registered a case.
