‘App’t way to track criminals
Now, the city cops just have to type the street name and all the criminals in that particular street will show up on the screen, thanks to a new application to be launched by the Chennai city police.
Chennai
After creating a database of 14,551 criminals in the city, the Chennai city police is now going a step further and are coming out with an app, which is compatible on mobile phones (both Android and iOs operating systems), and accessible on computers. The app will give real-time data regarding criminals on each street in the city. Multiple search options will give full data regarding the accused, including the photographs, identification marks, cases involved and modus operandi. The app would be made available to the cops by the technical wing of the city police as it will not be available on app stores meant for public. “We will download the apps to the mobile phones of the cops as it is only meant for the police personnel and officers,” a senior police official said. A decision to develop such an application was taken in a high-level meeting of the city police officials on Wednesday.
