Build Congress at grassroots, Thirunavukkarasar tells cadre
Reinstating that the presence of Congress at the grassroots is inevitable on par with the Dravidian majors, TNCC chief S Thirunavukkarasar urged the party functionaries here on Saturday to work for public. He asked them to lend a helping hand to the public wherever possible.

Addressing the zonal-level office-bearers of the party from the districts of Tiruchy, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Pudukkottai, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Thanjavur, Thirunavukkarasar said, as a part of strengthening the party in the state, a zonal-level review meeting has been organised.
The functioning of around 15 wings of TNCC, including the youth Congress and women Congress, are being analysed and assessed on their efficacy of reaching out to the people in the state.
Saying that the grand-old party has to gear up for the general elections within two years, he asked the members to equip themselves from now onwards.
“Only when the party is present at the grassroots level, it will get strengthened at other levels. So, the party workers must help people at police stations, taluk offices and other government bodies to win back the people’s confidence,” the TNCC chief explained.
He urged the party workers to contest in all the panchayat level posts. “Only through such participation, the party will grow,” he asserted.
After the local body polls, the party would make district level review meetings and the meeting of cadre would be held after January, the TNCC president said. Former MP KS Alagiri, ex TNCC president KV Thangabalu and others were present.
Congress team to review crop loss in Delta districts
Demanding both the Centre and state to waive agriculture loans availed in all the banks, the TNCC president S Thirunavukkarasar said, the state government has to disburse a relief fund of Rs 15 lakh each to the farmers who died due to crop loss.
A Congress delegation would review the crop loss in the Delta region, he said and urged the state to prevent farmers’ deaths due to crop loss.
