The DRM said that based on request from commuters the train began service on September 23, 2016, with 33 per cent revenue. While at least 50 per cent revenue is required to run the service, it has dropped to 20 per cent, he said. The train starting from Erode at 4 45 am was operating five days a week, except Thursdays and Saturdays. The Divisional Rail Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) in a meeting with railway officials on Wednesday made an appeal to the railways to operate the train till January. DRUCC member SV Stalin said that they have launched a campaign to make use of the train by more people. “Flex banners have been erected at various places in Erode and Salem,” he said seeking extention.
