Officials from Regional Meteorological Centre said that there would be rain in the next two days across the state. The city is expected to experience mild showers. According to officials, a trough of low pressure lay over south west bay off Sri Lanka coast to the Tamil Nadu coast and extended up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. Further, a trough of low pressure at mean sea level extended from Lakshadweep area to South Konkan coast. S Balachandran, Director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre told DTNext that there would be good rainfall in southern districts like Tirunelvelli, Thoothukudi and Ramanathaputam.  “As far as Chennai city is concerned, there will be mild rainfall and the sky will remain overcast,” the meteorologist said and added that there would be high possibility for interior areas to get rainfall. “Saturday’s upper air cyclonic circulation over East Central Arbian sea and adjoining coastal Karnataka persisted and now extended between 2.1 and 3.1 km above mean sea level,” said the official.
