Police sources said as part of the operation, police intensified patrolling and conducted vehicle checks and searches in hotels and lodges in a bid to arrest history sheeters, who were on the run, and execute the non-bailable warrants issued against them by the courts. During the night-long operation, 1,577 people were detained on suspicious grounds. According to sources, five criminals against whom non-bailable warrants were pending, were also arrested, along with 61 others, under Sec 109 and 110 of CrPc.  A total of 114 people were held on charges of drunken driving, the sources said.  The storming operation came a day after the banks opened for customers, after the demonetisation notification, which entailed a lot of policing work.
