Chennai
Passing orders on an application arising out of a suit filed by R Singaravelan, a distributor, Justice MM Sundresh directed G&7G Films represented by its proprietor R Shiva alias R Senthil Kumar to deposit a sum of Rs 35 lakh on the file of this court within 4 weeks for the movie’s release. Singaravelan, who had filed the suit for recovery of Rs 82.38 lakh had submitted that he had entered a contract with producers of Rajinikanth starrer “Lingaa” for exhibition and distribution rights in the Trichy-Tanjore sector. But R Shiva, defaulted to the tune of Rs 61.25 lakh, which he had to settle.
While so, he came to know that Shiva was about to release another Tamil film “Kadavul Irukan Kumaru” contrary to the letter dated June 18, 2016 that he will not release the film without clearing his dues. However, the respondent abruptly with a view to defraud him, has fixed the release of the film, he alleged.
