    US Consul General in Chennai Philip A Min who called on Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao said, several US companies are looking forward to invest in Tamil Nadu, which is known for its conducive investment climate and industry-friendly policies.

    Philip A Min told the Governor that companies from the United States like Ford, Caterpillar and others have made huge investments here. “There are many more companies which are looking forward for avenues here since there is a conducive investment climate in Tamil Nadu and it is a peaceful state, known for its industrial friendly policies,” he added. The Consul General said India and United States share an extensive cultural, strategic, military and economic relationship. 

    “Tamil Nadu’s culture has made great impact on me and that the citizens of India living in US carry on the rich legacy and culture and act as cultural Ambassadors of India,” he said. During the meeting, the Governor said the visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to US and US President Barack Obama to India have further strengthened the relationship between the two countries and have opened new vistas in the fields of IT, energy, education, aerospace, human resource and have promoted trade. Vidyasagar Rao said Tamil Nadu has excelled in urbanisation with road, air, sea and rail connectivity. 

    “It also offers quality education and the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University ranks among the top in the country,” he added. He observed that PM’s ‘Make in India’ policy had set the nation’s progress on a fast track. Philip Min invited the Governor for the ‘Yearend celebrations’ to be held on December 16 at the US consulate in Chennai.
