The ruling party is in the forefront in the poll campaign in both Aravakurichi and Thanjavur. Its arch rival DMK is yet to accelerate the pace of their campaign.

The AIADMK candidates, M Rengasamy (Thanjavur) and V Senthil Balaji (Aravakurichi), are hitting the road as early as 6 am daily and they continue their campaign up to 8 pm with a small break for lunch.
While the DMK candidate for Thanjavur Anjugam Boopathi has been active on the field, KC Palanisamy in Aravakurichi is seen campaigning only in the evenings.
The group of Ministers who are on the poll front have shared the areas to be covered and are reaching out to the voters in a big way. They have pepped up the micro level teams to go on door-to-door campaigning. “We consider the election campaign as a festival and go round cheerfully in the entire segment,” said a party leader from Tiruchy who has been camping at Thanjavur.
He also said that there is a positive wave in support of the candidates among the voters as they trust that only ruling party MLA can bring development to the constituencies.
Sources said that the AIADMK leaders who have been camping in the segments are charting out plans of the day and send the workers to meet the voters personally.
“The cadres are given specific target to achieve in the form of number of voters to reach out. Each worker has been asked to visit the identified voters at least five times in a week,” said another leader.
Meanwhile, the poll campaign has made the Ministers easily accessible to the people and they are putting forth their demands on the spot to the Ministers.
