DMDK, PMK join bypoll battle in Tiruparankundram

DMDK candidate, Thanapandian, filed his papers with returning officer Jeeva. Interestingly he had filed three nominations in his name and the dummy candidate for him was Arulanandhan. Similarly, PMK candidate Selvam also filed his nomination during the day. With the last day for filing nomination is on Wednesday, the BJP nominee Srinivasan is ex-pected to complete the formalities on the final day. 

Except Srinivasan, candidates of the other major political parties have filed their nominations in the constituency. The scrutiny of the nomination papers would be carried out on Thursday. 

The DMK and AIADMK candidates along with their supporters are on an intense campaign. On Tuesday DMK candidate Saravanan was involved in a door to door campaign throughout the constituency. Similarly, AIADMK candidate, Bose, toured in an open jeep to all the areas and sought votes in various parts of the constituency. State Revenue Minister R B Udayakumar, and State Minister for Cooperation, Sellur K Raju, campaigned for him. More than 10 Ministers from AIADMK are camping in the constituency to guide the party cadre. 

BJP candidate Srinivasan said that he would commence the campaign from Wednesday after filing his nomination.
