Day before talks, 4 Tamil Nadu men held by Sri Lankan Navy
In the latest incident of Sri Lankan Naval personnel arresting Tamil Nadu fishermen, four from Rameswaram have been detained for allegedly fishing near Katchatheevu island in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The arrested were identified by boat owner Karthikeyan as Muniswaran, Rajesh, Muniasamy and Ramar. He said that boat drifted into Sri Lankan waters as the engine failed midsea and added that the naval personnel damaged the glass panes of the boat before arresting the fishermen.Â
The arrested were taken to Kankesanthurai naval camp and produced before the court at Ookavalthurai. They were remanded to custody till November 15. The court also extended the remand of five other fishermen from Pudukottai who were arrested on October 4 till November 15. With this, the number of Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody has increased to 9.Â
As fishermen leaders from Rameswaram and Sri Lanka are set to meet at New Delhi on Wednesday, the incident has created fresh tension among the fishermen leaders.
