Warning No 2 for cyclone Kyant in Tamil Nadu
A deep depression formed over the east central Bay of Bengal has intensified into a cyclonic storm and it has been named ‘Kyant’. Following the development spotted in recent satellite images, cautionary signal number two has been hoisted at the eastern ports in the state on Tuesday.

Earlier, port warning number one was issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai. Latest observations indicated that the depression has deepened into a cyclonic storm centred about 620 km northwest of Port Blair and 850 km east of Vishakhapattinam.
Meteorological department said that the system will intensify further in another 24 hours. Following the observation, Department of Fisheries officials advised the fishermen not to venture into sea from Tuesday.
Cyclone signal No 2 indicates that a depression is out at the sea but it has no imminent impact on the weather on the mainland where the ports have been located.
