KCP seeks votes with past performance track record
DMK candidate for Aravakurichi KC Palanisamy commenced his election campaign from Pallapatti, the last point of the constituency on Wednesday after garlanding the statue of Annadurai.
Palanisamy claimed that he maintained a clean profile and had initiated several developments in the segments during his tenure as MLA. Further, he had always accorded priority to basic infrastructure in the constituency.
The 84-year-old candidate said, “I have not only used the entire MLA Constituency Development Fund but also spent from my pocket for implementation of several facilities in the region.”
Claiming that the voters of Aravakurichi would never forget his good works, Palanisamy expressed confidence that he would win the people’s mandate.
Earlier, former minister EV Velu, who has been appointed as DMK election in-charge of the segment, told reporters that the DMK lost the chance of forming government by a narrow margin in the number of seats. “Had the Election Commission conducted the election in a fair manner, DMK would have won more number of seats. But they favoured the ruling party,” charged Velu.
Pointing out that AIADMK candidate V Senthil Balaji, who was earlier elected from Karur constituency, promised the voters that he would bring a medical college and an integrated bus stand to the district, EV Velu said that he failed to fulfil the promises. “But he is contesting from Aravakurichi this time and his defeat is certain.”
Velu said that Palanisamy would file his nomination on Friday and Stalin would tour the constituency on October 30.
