Cauvery, UDAY issues dominate Cabinet meeting
The state cabinet which met here for the second time led by finance minister O Panneerselvam on Monday discussed the next course of action on key matters like Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana (UDAY) scheme, Cauvery river water sharing dispute and other issues.

The meet decided to write to the centre about the State government’s stand on Cauvery dispute and UDAY scheme. Edappadi K Palanisamy, Dindigul Srinivasan, and senior bureaucrats, Chief Secretary Rama Mohana Rao and advisor to state government Sheela Balakrishnan, attended the meet. Earlier, the government notified filling up of ordinary vacancies in the offices of ward members and presidents of village panchayats and in exercise of powers conferred by section 261-A of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act 1994 (Tamil Nadu Act 21 of 1994).The Governor appointed BDOs (village panchayats) of respective panchayat unions as Special Officers of respective local bodies.
