Four robbers held, 4 kg gold, 15 lakh recovered
The Royapuram police, on Saturday, arrested four accused who had robbed a pawn broker and took away 5.5 kg gold, Rs 10 lakh and property documents. Police arrested the accused Parthipan, Ranjith, Henry Charles and Saravanan and recovered the property from them. Police have also recovered 4 kg gold, Rs 15 lakh in cash, property documents, three cars and three twowheelers from the accused.

Police said the gang targeted a pawn broker’s shop owned by Rameshchand Ranga, at Adam Sahib Street, Royapuram. On June 10, a person came to the shop of Rameshchand around 10.45 am under the pretext of mortgaging a property document and started talking to him. When Rameshchand was discussing the matter with the person, two more persons entered the shop and gagged Rameshchand. They then tied up Ramesh and threatened him at knifepoint. The gang then looted all the valuables from the shop and escaped from the spot.
Police said the gang observed the shop for some days and with the help of Sundarachozhan, a resident of Kasimedu, they entered the shop on June 10. Police said Sundarachozhan had provided the vehicle for the gang. Then Parthipan entered the shop under the guise of mortgaging a property document and then others entered and overpowered the shop owner.Â
Police have launched a hunt for the remaining accused in the case.Â
