Justice M M Sundresh, who heard the contempt plea, directed the general manager Govindharajan to be present in court on October 24 and 26 to show cause as to why he should not be punished for contempt of court for failing to obey an order issued on November 19, 2014.

The petitioner was working as a driver and in 1997 he was charged for not operating the bus from Valparai to Coimbatore as per the instructions of the Branch Manager. In the enquiry that followed he was relived of some of the charges while some charges were maintained as proved.

While this was challenged at the Madras High court, the transport corporation reduced the basic pay of the petitioner. This reduction was also challenged and based on both the pleas the High Court directed the transport Corporation to pay retrial benefits within a period of three months on November 19, 2014 and settle the petitioner’s benefits as per the reduced salary.

But with both the orders not being adhered to the contempt plea was moved.
