On Wednesday, senior Left leaders said that they would soon hold talks about fielding candidates and then discuss the issue with other allies in the People’s Welfare Front (PWF).

This comes in the wake of VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan’s comment on Tuesday that the PWF would not field any candidate in Thanjavur and Aravakurichi segments, where elections were stopped by Election Commission in May this year, following reports of money distribution.

Speaking to DTNext, R Mutharasan, state secretary, CPI, said that they were yet to hold talks regarding the elections to the two seats. “We will discuss within our party and then convey our stand to the other allies in the PWF,” he said.

When asked about the VCK leader’s announcement, the CPI leader said that it was his party or individual opinion.

In the same vein, G Ramakrishnan, leader of CPM said “the PWF has four allies and as far as contesting elections is concerned, all the allies will have to take a common decision.”
