4 women die as bus rams auto in Usilampatti
Four women were killed after the share auto in which they were travelling was rammed by a TNSTC bus rammed at Pottulupatti near Usilampatti in Madurai district, on Wednesday. Three other passengers in the auto sustained serious injuries.

Police said, auto driver Kalaiselvan was on a routine trip from Kattakaruppanpatti to Usilampatti. Totally, seven passengers, including six women, mostly elders, were on board the vehicle. While the auto neared Pottulupatti post, a TNSTC bus from Madurai to Usilampatti rammed the share auto.Â
In the impact, the auto crashed on its side and was completely disfigured. Immediately, commuters from the bus alighted and rushed to the rescue of the auto passengers.Â
But two of the passengers, Thayammal(70) and Pandiyammal(45) died on the spot. The remaining five, who suffered serious injuries, were rushed to the Usilampatti government hospital.Â
However, two more women, Rakkammal (65) and Ramalakshmi (35), died at the hospital. Three more passengers, Veerammal, Rajangam and Gangapathi were being treated at the hospital. However, the auto driver managed to escape with minor injuries. Usilampatti Police have registered a case.
