CM Jayalalithaa on road to recovery, thanks doctors
Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, whose health has seen remarkable improvement for the past three days, spoke to the doctors treating her on Sunday, reliable sources at the Apollo Hospitals here have confirmed.
Chennai
The CM, who has been under the watchful eyes of the team of doctors at the Apollo Hospitals for the past 25 days, graciously acknowledged their round-the-clock attention by saying, “Thank you,” and added a few words appreciating the treatment she received.
This was the first time she spoke to the doctors. Dr. Sivakumar and his team of experts who had been attending to Jayalalithaa along with London-based specialist Dr. Richard Beale and the team from AIIMS, were reportedly jubilant when they heard her utter those words, according to sources. Earlier on Saturday, the Chief Minister had asked for water twice and was also fed boiled, mashed apples. Doctors attending on her said that while there was significant progress in her health condition, she might still require a few more days of hospitalisation before she could be in a position to be discharged. Jayalalithaa was admitted to Apollo on September 22, on complaints of fever and dehydration and has been receiving treatment. She received respiratory support and passive physiotherapy as part of her treatment.
On Sunday evening, actor Rajinikanth and his daughter Aishwarya Dhanush visited the hospital to enquire about the health of the Chief Minister. He was at the hospital at around 6 pm and spent close to 50 minutes with the doctors and also interacted with the ministers present there.
