Pharmacist kills wife with lethal injection
The police arrested a 30-year-old man of Namagiripettai in Namakkal district on Saturday for allegedly murdering his wife by administering a lethal injection. The victim was identified as R Priya (21). She was married to R Rajesh (30) a pharmacist of Podhagapatti village near Namagiripettai three years ago.

Police said that the couple was upset that they did not have a child. They also frequently quarrelled over the issue.Â
Quoting Rajesh, the police said that they decided to commit suicide on Saturday. But at the last moment Priya changed her mind when Rajesh first tried to administer her the poison, using a syringe. The man then beat her and forcibly administered the lethal injection.Â
Later he called Priya’s family and informed them that she died. The woman’s relatives rushed and found her dead with a few noticeable injuries and Rajesh was also absconding. They staged a protest in front of the house seeking proper inquiry into the death and refused to perform the last rites.Â
Deputy Superintendent of Police of Rasipuram sub division V. Raju assured action after inquiry and the body was sent to the Namakkal Government Hospital for post-mortem. Meanwhile Namagiripettai police arrested Rajesh. During inquiry he is said to have confessed to murdering his wife.Â
