Two AIADMK men commit suicide over Jaya’s health
Depressed over the continued hospitalisation of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, a die-hard AIADMK cadre reportedly committed self-immolation close to the MEPZ near Tambaram on Wednesday night.

According to sources, the victim identified as Sargunam (31) of Kadaperi, who was rescued with severe of burns, was rushed initially to the Chrompet GH and was later shifted to the Kilpauk Government Hospital, where he succumbed late in the night.
Sargunam, a staunch AIADMK loyalist, was upset for some days as the Chief Minister was not keeping well. Sargunam’s friends said that he had been discussing the health condition of the CM with relatives and locals frequently in the last few days.
On Wednesday night, while Sargunam was riding a two-wheeler, he suddenly stopped near the MEPZ signal and doused himself with kerosene and set himself ablaze. He then ran helter skelter shouting that the Chief Minister would get well soon and be back in action.
A traffic inspector, who was on duty at the spot, rushed to his rescue and put out the fire on Sargunam’s body.
He was rushed to the Chrompet Government Hospital and administered first aid before being shifted to the Kilpauk Government Hospital for advanced treatment around 8.15 pm. But, he died without responding to the treatment late in the night at the Kilpauk Hospital. Sargunam is survived by wife Sheela and a daughter Gayatri (4).
Youth dies in Madurai
Meanwhile in Madurai, Rajavel, a youth, who committed self-immolation some days ago citing the same reason, also succumbed to burns. Police have registered cases in connection with both incidents.
