SDPI cadre seek CMB, lay siege to post offices
Members of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) on Thursday besieged Head Post offices in Tiruchy, Thanjavur and Pattukkottai protesting against the Union Government’s refusal to implement the Supreme Court’s order to constitute the Cauvery Management Board (CMB).

Leading the protest in Tiruchy, Social Democratic Trade Union, State president A Mohammed Farooq said, the BJP led Union government had taken the U-turn on the forming of CMB with an eye on the Karnataka Assembly elections due for the year 2017.
They pointed out the double standards of the BJP while implementing the ban on Jallikattu citing the Supreme Court’s order but presently, refused to constitute the CMB even after the orders of the Supreme Court to form the CMB.
Subsequently, they raised slogans against the centre and attempted to besiege the Head post office but they were prevented by the police who arrested 37 members of the party.
Similarly in Thanjavur, the cadre led by J Haji Sheik, the General Secretary of Thanjavur South district of the party presided over the event.
The cadre who took out a march from Thanjavur Railway Junction to Head post office were stopped by the police and taken into custody. As many as 24 protesters in Thanjavur. Similar protests were held in front of the Kumbakonam Head Post office and Pattukkottai Head post office.
