Caution board comes up after death of four in Thalaianai
Following the death of four youth recently at Thalaianai in Papanasam dam, on Friday a safety board has been placed.

Four youth working in a private company at Chennai had gone to Papanasam dam during the Dusshera holidays and on Monday. After visiting a few places they had gone to the reservoir to take bath. While bathing at the Thalaianai, they had drowned. As they did not return to their place of stay, a search was launched for them by the police. Their bodies were later discovered. This incident had sent shock waves among other tourists as this was not the first accident in the Thalaianai region. In another incident a software engineer from Chennai had died at the same spot on July 23.Â
The two incidents had shocked tourists. Lack of safety aspects in the dam were claimed to the reason behind the two incidents. When Tirunelveli Collector, Karunakaran, was informed about the incident he reviewed the safety measures in the dam. He was informed that the dam was not a safe place to bathe. Apart from that forest officials too are not adequate ly present there to  warn the to tourists. Hence placing of a caution board would alert  tourists and prevent them from bathing. Following that the Collector directed the Municipal Commissioner of Vikramasinghapuram to place a caution board immediately.Â
